Haiti is facing a deep and prolonged humanitarian crisis marked by insecurity, displacement, food shortages, and interruptions to education and health services. Children are among the most affected. Across the country, millions face food insecurity, families have been forced from their homes, and many schools have closed or struggled to remain open. In this environment, dependable meals, educational support, and trusted local partnerships matter more than ever. Hearts for the Hungry remains focused on northern Haiti, where we continue to support children and communities with practical help and long-term care.

Update on Conditions
For many people outside Haiti, the country’s story in 2026 has been told primarily through headlines about gangs, political instability, hunger, and displacement. Those headlines reflect a very real crisis. Yet they do not tell the entire story. Across Haiti, families continue to care for displaced relatives, teachers continue to welcome children into classrooms, churches and local organizations continue to provide food, and communities continue finding ways to survive under extraordinarily difficult conditions.
